Before there was a shop, there was a wooden counter—set up every morning in front of someone else’s store. My father stood behind it before the sun rose, with one bike and two milk cans, selling milk to neighbours who would become friends, and friends who would become family.

In 2007, with the same hands and the same standards, my father opened Gujjar Milk Shop. The counter became a shop. The two cans became many. The bike became a delivery network. But what was in the milk—and what was in our promise—did not change.
